Comfort Zone

How you define your own comfort zone?

I was wondering regarding this matter when I started my training here, in Continental Tyre PJ Malaysia. I could say that I AM still in my comfort zone in the beginning of my training. Being a student who studying in a university that is very near to your house, was studying in a school that your brothers and sisters study in the same school, make me feel really comfort in my own life. I can just call anyone in my family members, if I want them to pick me up at my school or at my college. Everything is depended on other people.

But when I started my training here, I was all in a different place, with different people with different surrounding. For the very first time, I live in a surrounding that force you to speak in English, otherwise they will not understand what are you trying to say. Everything is completely strange to me.

Was chatting with my brother upon this thing, this different thing in my life. He said, I feel this way as this is my very first time ‘working’ with people that you’re completely not know. Before this, in school, you already know most of the people there. During my foundations, my degrees, you already know some people that you want to make friends with. But now, you are all alone, you are the only intern in your department. You need to depend on yourselves most the time. Your supervisor is busy. Are you expecting her/him all the time? No, dude. You still need to work on your own, although they sometimes compliment you in certain things.

So, back to the main topic.

How you define your own comfort zone?

My comfort zone is when I can depend on people on certain things. That is my comfort zone. I need to have reference when I do something, e.g, reports, assignments, tutorials, etc. I depend much on people regarding these.

During intern induction program with HR Department, Miss Lei A. Datuin do mentioned on an opportunity that we can achieve if we have an outstanding performance throughout our training in Continental Tyre PJ. If we pass the evaluation (more than 4 with maximum 5), we have the opportunity to be a permanent employee there, in Continental. She emphasized more on the opportunity to work abroad (if there is no vacancy on your position that you applied in Malaysia), you can apply the position in other country (that has the vacancy).

When I heard about this, I feel like, “I wanna be that person, who can work abroad.” BUT when I rethinking it again, I feel “Am I?” My brothers know me very well that I rarely go very far from my family. I rarely travel alone (as my father does not allow me to). So, if I can conclude myself in this situation, I do believe that, I still dont want to get out from my comfort zone.
